Diamond Ray
The diamond ray is a thrilling catch for surf-casters! This unique and once again endemic to SA. This species, twice as wide as it is long, blends perfectly with sandy ocean bottoms. While they’re known as scavengers, they can swim surprisingly fast and often hunt live fish. The excitement really kicks in when they bite, giving your rod a proper pull. These strong fighters put up a great challenge, and when they're in the area, you can find them in impressive numbers. Our best day was a memorable day in February 2023, with 26 diamond rays caught alongside our clients!
