Lesser Guitar Fish – Sand Shark

The lesser sandshark, also known as the lesser guitar fish, is often overshadowed by its larger cousin, the giant guitarfish. While we don't find the giants as far south as Jeffreys Bay, we have plenty of these smaller sand sharks. Although they may not be considered a special catch for anglers traveling to South Africa, they are quite charming and make fantastic bait. We often find ourselves fishing for them to prepare fresh bait for the bigger monsters later in the day. Plus, it’s always nice to check them off your list!
